Tutoring for BEST students

• Support Academics For Success's mission to build the academic, social, and personal development of children, adolescents, and adults.

• Develop meaningful and positive relationships with youth and their families. Serve as a positive role model for youth.

• Assist students with daily homework tasks and supplemental assignments.

• Uncover roadblocks to student success and respond appropriately to remove them.
  

• Develop study skills and overall effectiveness of students.

• Build student commitment to graduation.

• Engage students in educational and skill building activities.

• Maintain effective, open communication with all AFS staff.

• Create structure for and manage small and large groups of children.

• Complete daily and monthly paperwork highlighting the student's progress.

• Participate in monthly staff meetings and quarterly company staff meetings and trainings.

• Create a safe, respectful youth development based learning environment.

• Create lesson plans that are culturally relevant for a diverse population.
  

• Manage behavior and resolve conflicts. Work as a team member with Site Coordinator, Academic Coaches, and other staff.
  

In addition, all BEST students may receive personal tutoring support services from their teachers after school, on Saturdays as scheduled, and additional college outreach/ support services from our College and Career Center.
